Dewitt and Kim Jones had been writing songs since the 90s. Dewitt enjoyed some success as a songwriter when singer Ron Kenoly recorded Dewitt’s song “Use Me” for the 1994 album God Is Able. In1996, they released their self-titled debut album through independent labels, which was met with critical acclaim.
The couple continued to write and tour throughout the early 2000s, and in 2003 they released their follow-up album, Live at the Drive-In. In 2006, they wereiannounced as winners of the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for an Motion Picture or Television Film. Dewitt and Kim Jones continue to tour and write new music today.
