Lucky Philip Dube was a South African reggae musician and rastafarian considered to be one of the most important musicians in the history of African music. He was born in 1964, and died in 2007. at the age of 43, he was one of the most influential and well-known musicians in South Africa.
What caused Lucky Dubes death?
Lucky Dube was killed by armed robbers in Rosettenville, a Johannesburg suburb, shortly after dropping two of his seven children off at their uncle’s house. Dube was driving his Chrysler 300C, which the assailants were after.
The car was riddled with bullets and the accused, Stephan Netshep, was pronounced dead at the scene. This tragedy occurred less than a week after Lucky Dube had announced plans to open a new restaurant in South Africa called “Duben’s”.
